APB: All Points Bulletin (72%) ✰✰✰✰

From the game designer that was part of Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown (David Jones) comes APB: All Points Bulletin, which is an MMO, set in a open world urban world where gamers can interact by playing Enforcers or Criminals using free-form driving and combat. This third person shooter was developed and published by Realtime Worlds.

APB offers some of the most comprehensive character and car customization of any game in this genre. The graphics have a very high-quality appearance and it is this customization which is what the game is all about…it’s not about gaining levels in the traditional game sense as the goal is to have the coolest and unique looking characters and rides.

The game can become a little bit of yawn if played one-on-one, but really starts to shine when it comes to group-vs-group combat, which is fairly easy to make happen using the “Looking for Group” tool.  However, due to the random nature of match-ups some of the missions will appear flawed and unbalanced because of player experience levels and who happens to be online at that moment.  The game will no doubt need a few patches to clear up some issues such as unbalanced matchmaking and camping, and it could also use a newbie area, where it’s relatively safe for people to learn the game.

An interesting attribute of the game is the opportunity for creative players to make money in game using the game’s music editor and creating cool character theme symbols and then selling their creations to other players.
