Northrend & Dalaran Travel Plans
How do you get to Northrend from: Darnassus, Exodar, Ironforge, Orgrimmar, Silvermoon, Thunder Bluff or Undercity?
You can’t get there from here (is the classic expression), but what you can do is first get to Northrend via a nice boat ride from the northern pier Stormwind or take the Zeppelin from Orgrimmar. Adventurers can of course return the same way they arrived.
How to get to Dalaran
It is highly recommended to gain entrance and use the floating mage city of Dalaran as a central hub. Mages can do this themselves starting at level 71 and can start to porting others at level 74. All characters upon reaching level 74 can complete the quest “The Magical Kingdom of Dalaran” to gain access.
Warlocks can summon players to the city as well.
Characters as lows as level 68 have been known to accomplish the level 74 quest “Learning to Leave and Return: the Magical Way by Archmage Celindra in Dalaran. This allows teleport travel between Violet Stand Crystal located in the Crystalsong Forest ruins beneath the floating city and the Crystal located in Dalaran.
To get from Dalaran back to Stormwind or to travel from Dalaran
to Orgrimmar both the Alliance and the Horde districts within the city have their fixed portal back to those Alliance and Horde capital cities. The locations are points of interest that can located by asking for directions within the city, the same as asking for directions in the major cities (ask a guard or citizen that displays the scroll symbol when selected).
Dalaran is the floating city in Northrend in the Crystalsong Forest, which is not far from Icecrown. For WoW players level 68-80 Dalaran is the preferred hub location while doing quests in Northrend.
Dalaran’s location is rather central to the following regions in Northrend:
Northrend Adventuring Regions (Suggested Level)
Howling Fjord (68–72)
Borean Tundra (68–72)
Dragonblight (71–74)
Grizzly Hills (73–75)
Zul’Drak (74–77)
Sholazar Basin (76–78)
The Storm Peaks (77–80)
Crystalsong Forest (77–80)
Hrothgar’s Landing (77–80)
Icecrown (77–80)
Wintergrasp (Is a Outdoor Player-vs-Player zone, 75+ to participate, some weekly quests require level 78+)
