Dragon Age 2 role-players get to assume the role of Hawke that starts off as a refugee just arriving in the city of Kirkwall. Players have the option of using the skill sets attributed to a human warrior, mage or rogue. Hawke is destined to become the “Champion of Kirkwall a hero of legendary importance over a turbulent decade of political and social conflict in the world of Dragon Age.
The game is set in the mythical world of Thedas, which was introduced in Dragon Age: Origins. Players returning to the series from having played Dragon Age: Origins, and the expansion pack Awakening can continue their story by importing the data containing their previous choices and gaming experience into Dragon Age II. This information will affect the current political state of Thedas as well as appearances by previously known characters. Players can also obviously start with a clean slate if they desire.
Players of Dragon Age 2 will find that the controls are more responsive and the graphics are enhanced from the previous versions compliments of a new graphic engine. Also the game now allows for the character’s dialogue to have a greater range and tone showing more emotion such as being angry or flirtatious.
Players that purchase a new game have access to downloadable bonus content The Black Emporium (DLC), which unlocks a magic item store deep under Kirkwall that has some of the best equipment in the game. The store also unlocks additional items as the character increases experience. Items include: A loyal Mabari hound that fights at your side, Mirror of Transformation, which can be used to change your character appearance, and unique and powerful crafting recipes.
