Bejeweled Blitz was originally just a new facebook application version of PopCap Game’s popular Bejeweled game, but it didn’t stop there.
The goal of Bejeweled Blitz is to match or reorder gems and multipliers in either a vertical or horizontal fashion to obtain the highest score possible in 60 seconds. Players on Facebook can compete for a high score on Bejeweled Blitz leaderboards.
The main game screen is an animated 8 x 8 grid of falling gems.
Players create lines of three or more gems by swapping with adjacent gems. When a match is made, the matched gems vanish and more gems fall into place from above. Special gems can be created by making matches of 4 or more.
As an enhancement over previous games in the Bejeweled series, Bejeweled Blitz allows for faster gameplay as players now have the ability to swap gems while gems from previous matches are still falling.
After each match you gain virtual coins which can be swapped for game boosts such as: score multipliers, mystery gems, additional time, a detonator and scrambler that reorders gem locations.
Bejeweled Blitz is also available on the iphone as part of the Bejeweled 2 + Blitz iPhone application for 99 cents on Apple’s App store or from the PopCaps game website.
