The mobile game market is booming and Apple has over 100 million game platforms out there in the form of iPhones and iPods. ”Apple’s App Store currently has over 300,000 applications that includes many free to try games and includes full versions of the games with prices in the single dollar range”, says Ken Burridge (founder of GameMaster.com). The other big trend besides iPhone game popularity says Mr Burridge are “the social network games such as those found of facebook and mobile games in general have easily become the fastest-growing segments of the game industry.”.
That also explains the move by such video game giants as Electronic Arts purchase of Playfish for approximately 300 million USD last year. Playfish is a creator of social games for: Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Google, iPhone and Android. Each of the company’s seven games has been a top 10 hit on facebook and other social networks.
